What's A Brazilian Butt Lift?
Many men and women in Houston, TX are consulting with our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Rolando Morales, about the Brazilian butt lift (BBL). Because it is very difficult to build up your backside by eating certain foods or performing specific exercises, our surgical team can offer you an alternative to reshape your rear the way you want it. A BBL does not use a synthetic implant to augment your buttocks. Dr. Morales is very skilled at performing liposuction to collect fat, purify it, and then reinject it to where you want it most – in the upper quadrant of your buttocks. At Morales Plastic Surgery, you can have a one-on-one consultation for a BBL with Dr. Morales in a private atmosphere. Call our office today to schedule your appointment.

Am I a candidate for BBL?
To be considered for a BBL, you may have flat buttocks. What makes you a great candidate is the amount of fat that you can have liposuctioned from a donor area on your body. You may have extra fat cells on your back, abdomen, hips, thighs, and flanks. Each procedure is specifically tailored and sculpted to meet your aesthetic needs.
During a Brazilian Butt Lift
A BBL is an outpatient procedure performed under general anesthesia. The duration of the surgery varies based on several factors, including:
- The location of your donor site
- The amount of fat to be removed
- The technique Dr. Morales will implement
- The size of your buttocks before surgery
The BBL can be combined with other procedures, such as a tummy tuck or breast augmentation. This will add to the total surgery time, as well. Liposuction will be performed first to harvest the donor fat. Common areas for donor fat include the lower back, abdomen, hips, thighs, and flanks. The fat suctioned from these areas will be carefully processed and purified for reinjection into the buttocks. Our surgical team will carefully turn you over in the prone position to begin your buttock enhancements. The upper quadrant of the buttocks will be augmented with your own fat and sculpted. Dr. Morales will use his many years of experience as a plastic surgeon to recontour your buttocks into an aesthetically pleasing shape.
During the recovery process, it is important for you to get up and move around several times a day. This will help speed up the recovery process and reduce the risk of blood clots forming in the legs. Dr. Morales may prescribe a medication to prevent blood clots in the postoperative period. After surgery, you may often feel somewhat sore, tired, and stiff. Fluid drainage from the incisions, swelling, and mild bleeding are also common.

Brazilian Butt Lift FAQs
How long is the surgery?
The duration of the surgery is very dependent on how many areas are being treated and the volume of fat removed and transferred. Most patients will not exceed three hours of liposuction.
What can I add to a BBL?
The BBL can be a stand-alone surgery or combined with other body contouring procedures. However, there is a limit to how many procedures can be done safely as it relates to surgical recovery and the amount of time the surgery takes. This will all be discussed in your consultation and fat transfer to the buttocks planning sessions.
When Can I Go Back To Work?
Every person recovers at their own pace. The recovery period depends on the number of procedures you have performed at the same time as your BBL. You may need to have fat removed from more than one area to collect enough fat for the look you desire to achieve. On average, patients return to work about a week after having fat harvested. Dr. Morales will give you more details in your follow-up appointments.
