What is an Eyelid Surgery?
The earliest signs of aging are often around the eyes. Dr. Morales works with patients in Houston and Katy who have droopy eyelids or bags under the eyes to create a more youthful appearance. Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a cosmetic procedure that removes excess fat, skin and tissue from the upper and lower eyelids, and rejuvenates the eyelids and surrounding skin. For some patients, eyelid surgery can improve their vision. This procedure is most common on patients 35 years and older.

"I am 48 & just had a makeover 3 months ago (tummy tuck, breast's, lipo & upper & lower eyes) by Dr Morales. I look & feel like a million dollars. I recently lost 85 pounds & now my stomach is now flat. Dr. Morales really worked his magic & skills to create exactly want I wanted. He took the time to explain each procedure & answered all of my questions. He staff is very professional & kind. Excellent customer service from everyone from the front desk staff to the nurses on surgery day. I spent the first night in the hospital- so worth it- excellent care. Then came home & had a nurse come to my house & explain the process of how to clean the areas, drain & any other question I had. I am so happy with my results. My confidence is back in myself after working so hard to lose the weight. Thank you Dr Morales!!!"- J.D. / Google / Feb 12, 2020

"Amazing experience...more than a satisfied customer! - My experience with Dr. Morales and his team was amazing. I initially went to see Dr. Morales to replace saline implants that I had for 25 years. Dr. Morales was very informative with my options and I felt that he was extremely knowledgeable. My comment to him was "You are the artist so I trust you and your decision." During my pre-op appointment, I inquired about an upper eyelid lift. We agreed to do this at the time of my implant replacement surgery. Needless to say, I was nervous going into surgery as I have never had surgery on my face. Dr. Morales’s team was so attentive and answered all of my questions. The surgical team, at the surgery center, was fantastic and very caring. I went home with minimal bruising on my eyes and never had any pain with my breast. I only took Tylenol the day after surgery. If I would have known the recovery was so easy, I would have never been so nervous. As I age, I will have more procedures and I will only see Dr. Morales. I enjoyed my experience so much and I will miss team, Morales. Both of my procedures were better than I could have ever asked for, with recovery and the outcome. I am extremely happy!"- F. / RealSelf / Mar 15, 2021
During the Surgery
Blepharoplasty is performed on an outpatient basis under local or general anesthesia, and typically takes about one hour to complete. Blepharoplasty can be performed alone or with face, neck, eyebrow and forehead lifts. The upper eyelid skin is removed through fine incisions placed in the natural crease of the upper eyelid, and the fat is trimmed away. A fine suture is used to close the skin and is removed four to five days later. For lower blepharoplasty, the lower eyelid fat is removed through an incision on the inside of the eyelid, so there is no visible scar.
After surgery, the eyelids will be swollen. The sutures are usually removed within a week after surgery. The scars will be pink for several weeks, but will fade over a period of several months. Patients will be able to go about light daily activities after the first few days, but more aerobic recreation should be delayed for about 3 weeks. Sunglasses allow patients to go out in public immediately, and make-up can be worn within 5 days. Lifting is discouraged for several weeks. Most patients return to their jobs within a week unless their job requires lifting or aerobic activity.
The cost of an eyelid surgery varies for each patient. It depends on whether both the upper and lower eyelids were corrected. Patients can expect to pay between $3,000 and $5,000. In some cases, the surgery may be covered by medical insurance.

Eyelid Surgery FAQs
Will I Have Eyelid Bruising and Swelling?
Bruising and swelling is the biggest recovery aspect because there is minimal pain to this procedure. The eyelids are very sensitive to trauma/surgery. Dr. Morales has a detailed postoperative protocol involving head elevation, cold application, and medications to minimize the swelling. Most patients should have minimal residual bruising and swelling at two weeks post-procedure.
Patients will begin the see the final results of eyelid surgery 2 months after the procedure when swelling and bruising has subsided.
Can I Wear Makeup?
Most patients who recover appropriately will be able to wear makeup 2 weeks after the surgery. If patients use makeup before, there is a chance of “tattooing” the makeup into the incisions, raising the risk of infection.
Can I Wear Contacts?
Vision is not affected. The eyes may feel dry or irritated, and require frequent application of moisturizing drops. Contacts are usually safe to resume at 2 weeks.
