Liposuction in Houston, TX

What Is Liposuction?

At Morales Plastic Surgery in Houston, TX, we offer liposuction (fat removal procedure) for men and women with unwanted fat in areas that are difficult to lose weight. Our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Rolando Morales, can safely recontour the abdomen, chin, neck, buttocks, thighs, knees, and more to sculpt the area into a more aesthetically pleasing shape. Liposuction can provide men and women alike with newer and better body proportions while taking care of pesky areas that are resistant to change even with a healthy diet and targeted exercises.

In a consultation, you can discuss your trouble areas that would benefit from liposuction with Dr. Morales privately. Call and schedule an appointment with one of our friendly patient care coordinators today.

What Happens during Liposuction?

At Morales Plastic Surgery, we provide our patients with liposuction services in an outpatient facility with general anesthesia. If you are having multiple procedures that involve more complex techniques than just liposuction, then Dr. Morales may recommend an inpatient stay for a few days of recovery. The duration of the surgery time will be based on the amount of fat removed, the technique used, and the size of the area being treated. Dr. Morales will make small incisions to insert a specialized medical instrument called a cannula to disrupt fat cells before they are suctioned out. He will also implement a tumescent solution of saline and lidocaine to make the fat easier to remove and prevent excessive blood loss. Once the fat is removed, you will be bandaged and taken to our recovery room to wake up from the anesthesia.

What Are the Benefits of Liposuction?

  • Achieves results where healthy eating and exercise plans have failed
  • Treats various areas of the body

  • Improves self-image and confidence
  • Very little scarring

How Much Does Liposuction Cost?

What Happens after Liposcution?

Once your liposuction procedure has ended, Dr. Morales will have you dressed in a compression garment in the treatment area. You will need to wear your fitted compression garment as directed by Dr. Morales to help speed up your recovery process. After the first week at home, you should see the bruising and swelling gradually dissipate. As your body heals, you should see results in several months. You may have small scars where the cannula was inserted, but these will fade over time. We will also give you scar care instructions to follow once you are caring for yourself at home.

Dr. Morales and his team are absolutely amazing! They are the perfect balance of professional and friendly, always available for questions, and supply you with everything you will need for recovery. I had an extended tummy tuck, breast lift with implants, liposuction of the back and sides, and an arm lift.. all after a 100 pound weight loss. My results are better than I could have imagined and I’m so thankful to have chosen Dr. Morales as my doctor. He gave me back my confidence, and I recommend him to anyone looking for the perfect plastic surgeon!

I just want to return gestures and pray that I can be that inspiration to the next woman on the fence of deciding. - Dr. Rolando Morales came highly recommended to me. When I first went to Dr. M, I was only wanting a breast lift (2017). He did suggest augmentations for upper pole fullness. I’m already very busty, so I thought implants would make me HUGH! So at the time, I declined...Well, ladies let me say “doc knows best” because within 2 years I was back because “something was missing”... yep you got that right, the fullness that he said that I would miss. Dr. Morales listened to my concerns and gave me exactly what I wanted; upper pole fullness WITHOUT bigger breast. Needless to say, I was very pleased with the outcome of my results.I then decided that “hey after 2 wonderful pregnancies and 2 beautiful boys”; it was time to have that flat tummy I had in my youth pre-pregnancy bod. I booked liposuction of the back, flanks, bra line, and a tummy tuck (full abdominoplasty) for 3/25/2021. I did have the Exparel, which is making the pain very manageable. I am POD 1 and as you can see from my pictures, I have no shape and is VERY swollen, but so far I’m doing well and pain is minimal. I will take pictures to add the more time goes by to allow you to see my journey. The women who charted and shared their journey from start to finish really helped me make the final decision and put my mind at ease just seeing their transformations. I just want to return gestures and pray that I can be that inspiration to the next woman on the fence of deciding. Will keep you all posted. Any questions just ask! ;-)

I had 2 hour massages at each session. My surgeon took me out of my binder and put me into a very light compression faja, which I only sleep in at night. I bought a Colombian faja which offers more compression for my day time wear. (Doing this was ok’d by my PS). Both fajas are second stage. Updated on 12 May 2021: The top photos were taken at my pre-op appointment. The bottom photos are from 5/12, which is actually 7 weeks out from my procedure date. My surgeon says that 60 percent of the swelling has gone. I also am starting scar therapy today.

From the moment I came in for my consultation I knew he was the doctor for me. Him, his staff and Linda were so amazing and made me feel extremely comfortable the entire process! From being so embarrassed of my body to now looking at myself and feeling better and better everyday I can’t thank him enough. I’m only a month in of recovery and everyday the progress just amazes me!

How Much Fat Can You Take With Liposuction?

At your consultation, we will discuss how much fat is safe for you to have removed with liposuction. This will not be a plastic surgery dedicated to helping you lose weight. There are limits to what can be safely removed from your body. Also, you can only have so much fat removed before it makes the treated area look deflated with loose skin. You need to be as close to your ideal weight as possible to get the best results.

What Can I Do With the Fat?

Harvested fat from liposuction can be purified for reinjection into areas that need more volume. This is a surgical process called a fat transfer or fat grafting. When Dr. Morales liposuctions out fat during a tummy tuck or thigh lift, he could potentially use that same fat for a Brazilian butt lift, breast augmentation, or a facial filler. Otherwise, the fat will be safely discarded. If you have an interest in repurposing your autologous tissues, bring it up to Dr. Morales during your consultation. Keep in mind that there will be a limit to how many procedures can be done safely as it relates to surgical recovery and the amount of time the surgery takes.

Can I Workout After Lipo?

In our experience, the average recovery period (or the amount of time you should not workout) for a liposuction patient is about two months. You may feel better in less time, but the postoperative swelling may persist for several months after liposuction. Dr. Morales will see you at your follow-up appointments and will make recommendations as to your level of activity at that time.

How Long Does Lipo Take?

The duration of your fat removal surgery is very dependent on how many areas are being treated and the volume of fat removed. A chin fat removal will not take as long as a larger area on your body, like the abdomen or thighs. Patients should not exceed three hours of liposuction.

What About Cellulite and Loose Skin?

Surgical liposuction only addresses excess fat in the body. If you have loose skin, Dr. Morales may suggest combining liposuction with a lift surgery. Lipo is often done along with skin tightening surgery, like a tummy tuck or arm lift, to give you your best results. To address cellulite, there are many nonsurgical and minimally invasive treatments. In your consultation, tell Dr. Morales and his team about your concerns like loose skin and cellulite so your best treatment plan is created.

Will I Have Scars?

Since liposuction is an invasive surgery, incisions will be made and sutured. This will leave scars; however, Dr. Morales does his best to reduce their appearance. This includes making small, thin incisions in the natural folds of your body or in less visible areas. After your surgery, a member of our team will show you how to care for your stitches, so they heal properly and fade.

Will My Results Last?

Before liposuction, it's important to be committed to maintaining your results. Although liposuction reduces the number of fat cells in your body, you can still gain and lose weight. We recommend that you be at or near your ideal weight prior to liposuction surgery. Afterward, it is best to stay within 5 – 10 pounds of your post-surgical weight. Getting pregnant after liposuction will also impact your results; however, a second surgery or mommy makeover may be done to refresh your body.
