Inspired By Art & Science

Dr. Rolando Morales’s path to plastic surgery was deeply influenced by his unique upbringing, which combined his love for both science and art. Growing up in a home where his mother was a nurse and his father worked as a medical sculptor at the esteemed Shriner’s Burn Institute located in Galveston, TX, Dr. Morales was exposed to the powerful impact of medical artistry. His father, one of the nation’s few experts in creating customized silicone prosthetics, crafted anatomically accurate replacements for noses, ears, and other body parts, blending them seamlessly with the human form.

As a young man, Dr. Morales had the opportunity to assist his father in shaping silicone ears for young burn victims, an experience that not only honed his artistic eye but also introduced him to the world of plastic surgery. This combination of scientific precision and creative sculpting led him to discover his passion for the field. Working alongside plastic surgeons who encouraged him to pursue this career, Dr. Morales found that plastic surgery was the perfect way to unite his two greatest passions—science and art—into a fulfilling profession that transforms lives.
