Gynecomastia

Let's Get Started

Transcription

Gynecomastia is an enlargement of the male breast tissue, and so this is commonly caused with two different types of components. The first one is that we have extra fat of the chest. The second part is there's extra breast tissue, and so the treatment of this is removing the fat, typically with liposuction, and possibly direct incision where the glandular tissue is directly removed with the end goal of to improve and restore a more youthful shape of the male chest.

Most of my patients recovering from gynecomastia surgery are recovering in about five days. They return to work usually about five to seven days, take medicine for three to five days. I have them back into their full exercise routine in about six weeks.

Gynecomastia surgery requires compression. So, the reason for that is is that the contour of the chest has to maintain a smooth, decreased volume after the liposuction and glandular excision, and to provide compression, we use garments. So, garment therapy is required for two months after surgery.

The expected cost of gynecomastia surgery typically starts around $4,000 and can range up to $8,000, and again, this depends on the amount of work that is required, how much liposuction is required to reduce the fatty tissue, and also how much direct excision of the gland tissue is required.
