CASE DESCRIPTION: Patient presented for evaluation to improve the appearance of her abdomen after pregnancies. She had a previous history of abdominal surgery and a colostomy reversal. She was unhappy with the loss of abdominal tone and umbilical hernia after pregnancy. The after pictures below are six months after abdominoplasty with muscle tightening (anterior rectus fascia plication), umbilical hernia repair, and scar revision. She had a quick recovery, and has returned to all her lifestyle activities. PROCEDURE NOTES: Standard Abdominoplasty with anterior rectus fascia plication for diastesis (muscle separation of the midline) repair. The umbilical hernia was also repaired and the colostomy scar revised. Exparel (longterm local anesthetic) was injected during the procedure to reduce postoperative pain and reduce amount of pain medicines required in the recovery period.
