Nutrition Plans For Surgery in Houston, TX

Our Nutrition Plans

I get asked all the time about diet and nutrition. Once, I fully embraced the healthy living lifestyle, my body, mind, and soul changed for the better! Your diet is 90% of it! The cliché of "you are what you eat" is so true! I want to provide the opportunity to learn how to eat healthier. For my patients, I strongly feel proper nutrition can both optimize recovery as well as get ready for surgery. Some patients want to lose a certain weight before having surgery. This is a nice thought, but most people who go on a "diet" (keto, HCG, etc) cannot maintain this for a lifetime! The best way to have a healthier diet is to change the way you eat! Smaller portion control, better food choices! I see it happen unfortunately despite my counseling. Patients lose thirty pounds before surgery, have surgery, then gain it all back, undoing their investment! But, I’ve also seen the opposite. Surgery inspires them to eat better and exercise to make their surgical results look even better! That for me is huge, as I know that I was part of helping someone live a healthier lifestyle.

I have partnered with Juliana Halloran. She is a certified nutritionist, personal trainer, IFFB PRO bikini athlete and fitness model who has developed amazing nutrition plans for just about any person. As it relates to surgery, we have developed plans for pre-surgery, post-surgery, and maintenance plans.

I had a very positive experience with Dr. Morales. I chose him for my mommy makeover surgery (breast lift w/ augmentation and tummy tuck with lipo) because I really liked the results of his previous patients but most importantly, he understands the importance of exercise and nutrition and really promotes this in his practice for the best results. He never rushed my appointments and always took the time to make sure he answered all my questions and that I understood what I needed do. I appreciated his professionalism and his passion for what he does. I’m 2 month post op and very please with my results so far!

Is this included in my surgery?

No. However, I strongly recommend this for larger surgeries such as tummy tucks, massive weight loss combined procedures, and mommy makeovers. I believe the caloric and dietary requirement is higher and a balanced meal plan will optimize your recovery from these larger procedures. A pre-surgery and a two-month post-surgery plan are included. Maintenance plans afterward are on a subscription basis with Juliana. These nutrition plans are optional for smaller procedures, such as breast surgery, liposuction.

Can I get meal plans without having surgery?

Yes! Juliana is an expert nutritionist and can help you with healthier nutrition. Whether your goal is to lose weight or just feel better.

Are diet pills safe to take?

There is no such thing as a magic pill! These medications often have stimulants and are effective in the short term, but won’t last. Many are not FDA approved and can have serious side effects. Nothing is as effective to lose weight as eating healthier and exercising.

Do I need to count calories?

This is a common question asked and considering weight management equation states when you eat more calories than you burn you gain weight and when you eat fewer calories than you burn you lose weight. The only problem is counting calories is not that simple. For long-term success, you will rely on developing and using your inborn signaling systems hunger and appetite.

Do I have to measure and weigh my food?

To be successful it’s important you follow your meal plan customized for you. The portions in your plan are calculated for you to help you reach your goals. After a couple of weeks of prepping your foods, it will become second nature to portion your food with measuring tools.

How long do I have to follow my nutrition plan?

This depends on Dr. Morales’s weight loss recommendation. You will start with your pre-surgery nutrition plan followed by a post-surgery plan. From start to finish you will learn how to plan and prep your meals along with healthy behaviors for a sustainable way of eating. Ultimately, we want to help you build life-long skills and incorporate daily practices to improve your health, body composition, and performance in order to maintain your new body.

What if I don’t lose the weight in time for my surgery?

Your program includes check-ins to keep you on track. If you plateau, Juliana will reassess your plan and make adjustments if needed.

I heard carbs are bad, should I avoid them?

Carbs are one of the three macronutrients your body needs to thrive. Carbs are your source of energy and it is important to understand a moderate amount of quality carbs are good and can help you recover better and optimize your progress. Quality carbs like whole grains, some fruit, sweet potatoes, beans, legumes, etc are good in moderation. Processed carbs like bread and pasta are best left out of your plan.
